The department is the leader in Taiwan's financial sector, having established the earliest institute with comprehensive course planning and excellent faculty guiding students in related knowledge areas. The curriculum design emphasizes both economics and accounting training, featuring the application of financial and taxation knowledge. The teaching objective is to cultivate professional talents in academic, government budgeting, taxation, securities, and financial management fields, being the only unit in Taiwan currently offering a complete program in public finance (undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs).
As of June 25, 2024, the department has 19 full-time faculty members, including 15 professors, 2 associate professors, and 2 assistant professors; 14 part-time faculty members, including 2 honorary professors, 1 chair professor, and 1 joint appointment professor. There are 336 undergraduate students, 72 double major students, 92 minor students, 68 master's students, and 4 doctoral students. Graduates of the department have performed well in both the public and private sectors, with alumni present in various tax agencies across the country. In other professional fields such as financial institutions and accounting firms, alumni also hold leadership positions. In academia, alumni are present in domestic and foreign universities, Academia Sinica, and other research institutions.
